First of all, I have to say that Engineering in Renewable Natural Resources (IRNR) has one of the best curriculums of all time (of course I think that, I'm actually studying that programme heh). I really like the fact that environmental challenges are considered in the programme, like climate change and territorial planning, actually we have interdisciplinary subjects for a systemic understanding of socio-ecological issues.
There are some subjects which are so relevant for the research area of our career, but a few of them are taught in the incorrect way. For example, I believe "Remote Sensing" (RS) is one of the most important subjects for change detection and landscape phenomena identification. Although, the teaching method used in this course is not consistent with the environmental challenges approach. When I was in that course, I realized that RS is taught to know all the physical theory behind the important tools of IRNR, instead of concentrate to learn the useful tools.
I'm completely disagree with the workload. This is because, in our first year of college, we see contents that actually were taught in secondary. In the other hand, I don't understand completely the sense of having six or seven subject at the same semester... (there are other international programmes model where you have one subject at a time, and people could learn better).
About the use of technology... I think the actual challenge is to integrate different software for data generation and analysis. Currently, it's work of the student to incorporate the knowledge between subjects, but I would like to have some courses (even talks or advices) where we can utilize technological tools for innovative problem-solving.
